BACKGROUND
One of our tech partners, Telstra Purple, reached out to us to work with one of their government education clients to provide an AWS solution to enable them to migrate multiple on-premises websites and payroll system, while still being flexible to add new workloads in future.
This was built and managed using AWS Control Tower and included multiple accounts to separate workloads and implement best practices.
The Challenge
The initial challenge was that they needed to exit their current private cloud provider. The broader challenge was to have the ability to move their existing workloads to the cloud consistently and effectively.
Meeting the challenge
- Ran discovery workshops with the client to understand the use cases and requirements of the environment(s) to ensure the AWS Landing Zone was prepared for those use cases.
- Completed an analysis of the required scope of work for the purposes of backlog development, refinement, estimation, and prioritisation.
- Draft design document, review with client, AWS and Telstra.
- Implemented and configured the Landing Zone based on AWS best-practices.
TECHNOLOGY USED
- AWS Control Tower
- AWS Organizations
The Benefits
This project provided a structure for the client to confidently use AWS for their first critical workloads.
AWS Landing Zone is a solution that helps customers more quickly set up a secure, multi-account AWS environment based on AWS best practices. This enabled our client to save time by automating the set-up of an environment for running secure and scalable workloads while implementing an initial security baseline by creating core accounts and resources.
Our client will now be able to easily provision and manage future workload resources securely in the AWS Public Cloud which when the time comes, can scale up easily to cater for growth.
