About pdrLoader
pdrLoader is responsible for loading files to and from the participant’s local Data Interchange folders to the participant’s DBMS. It can be installed in any environment supporting Java. pdrLoader polls the participant’s local Data Interchange folders and processes data from files into the participant’s DBMS, conforming to the Data Model.
The Energy Market Challenge
Our clients faced a significant challenge when AEMO announced an upgrade to their system from 5.2 to 5.3. This upgrade required our client’s applications and interfaces, particularly the pdrLoaders, to be updated accordingly. This included the development of 12 new data tables and the upgrading of the 29 current tables. The critical nature of the pdrLoaders meant that any disruption in their functionality could prevent our client from participating in the energy market, posing a significant risk to their operations. Failure to address this upgrade would result in a loss of connectivity with AEMO, leading to operational disruptions and potential exclusion from the energy market. This scenario threatened regulatory compliance and impacted the client’s ability to compete and operate efficiently.
The pdrLoaders Application Upgrade Solution
- Assessment and Script Customisation: Blue Crystal Solutions (BCS) proposed a comprehensive three-step solution to address the challenge. First, we conducted a thorough assessment to identify the required customisations in the client’s existing scripts, ensuring the pdrLoaders were fully compatible with the updated AEMO system.
- Deployment and Testing: We deployed the customised scripts in a controlled testing environment to validate functionality and ensure seamless integration. During this phase, special attention was given to the pdrLoaders to ensure their optimal performance.
- Implementation: The customised scripts were finally rolled out on the client’s production servers. The implementation was carried out meticulously to ensure minimal downtime and operational continuity. Rigorous testing and phased implementation helped identify and resolve potential issues before the full rollout.
The solution’s implementation resulted in a smooth, fast, and seamless upgrade of the client’s application. The pdrLoaders continued to function efficiently, ensuring uninterrupted connectivity with AEMO.
